Benefits of Dental Implants Over Alternative Treatments in Preston?
If you are missing one or more teeth and would like to
restore your ability to smile, speak and eat with comfort and confidence, then
dental implants may be right for you. Dental implants can replace missing
teeth, support a fixed bridge and eliminate the need for a removable partial
denture or anchor a full denture.
Innovations in tooth implant materials and
techniques continue to improve the success rate of titanium implants. More and
more patients are enjoying the benefits of having dental implants.
There are several advantages to dental implants, including:
Improved Appearance. Dental implants look and feel like your
own teeth. And because they are designed to fuse with bone, they become
permanent.
Improved speech. With poor-fitting dentures, the teeth slip
within the mouth causing you to mumble or slur your words.
Improved comfort. Because implant retained restorations
become part of you, they eliminate the discomfort of acrylic dentures.
Improved Chewing and easier eating. Sliding dentures can
make chewing difficult. Dental implants function like your own teeth, allowing
you to eat food with confidence and without pain.
Improved confidence. Dental implants can give you back your
smile and help you feel better about yourself.
Improved oral and general health. Dental implants don't
require reducing other teeth, as a tooth-supported bridge does. Because nearby
teeth are not altered to support the implant, more of your own teeth are left
intact, improving long-standing dental health.
Convenience. Removable dentures are just that; removable and
a denture , designed to be a basic replacement for missing teeth and nothing
else whereas dental implants eliminate the embarrassing inconvenience of
removing dentures, as well as the need for messy adhesives to keep them in
place.
Your Implant Dentist in Preston can help you decide if a
dental implant is right for you. He will review your medical and dental
histories, and thoroughly examine your teeth, gums and bite. X-rays and models
will be taken and analysed. Risks and benefits of available treatment options
will be discussed.
The placement of dental implants requires special knowledge,
training, skills and facilities. Only experienced, qualified and accredited
implant dentists with advanced knowledge and training in surgery of the mouth,
face, and jaws, and are appropriately skilled at inserting implants.

All-on-4 Teeth Replacement Solution
The "All-on-4" technique is a cost effective and
immediate solution for people who want to replace loose, annoying and unnatural
dentures with a fixed set of teeth, or for those with advanced dental disease
who want to return to full function and a great smile whilst avoid denture wear.
Even patients who previously were told they could not have
dental implants are often surprised to find that despite advanced dental
disease or advanced loss of jaw bone, All-on-4 Dental Implant reconstructions
by a qualified and experienced implant dentist can provide the solution you have
always wanted.
The All-on-4 dental implant solution also allows bone grafting
and sinus elevation procedures and lengthy treatment schedules to be avoided in
most cases, unlike conventional full mouth or full jaw implant reconstructions.
Less surgery, less implants and more immediate results means
a more cost-effective solution compared to conventional full mouth implant
reconstructions. And best of all, the entire procedure can be done in few days:
All-on-4 Dental Implant Procedure
Examination: The first step is
an oral examination to discuss treatment options and to determine the best
solution that suits your individual needs. Following an X-ray and some
photographs and examination, the details of what would be required and what is
expected to be achieved are discussed with you.
Diagnostics: Radiographs
and 3D scans are taken to determine final position of the implants. Pre-treatment
photographs and cast models are also prepared.
Work-up: Diagnostic
data is used to plan the optimal position of the final teeth for aesthetics,
function and speech. A special guide is also produced at this stage.
Your New Smile in 3
days
Day 1 Tooth Implants: the jaw is prepared to receive the implants
and the implants are strategically placed according to the surgical guide.
Impressions are taken of the implants.
Day 2 Try in Stage: Teeth are set in wax and are tried in your
mouth within 24-48 hours following surgery. Adjustments of tooth position and
colour can be made at this stage. Your new teeth, which were
designed in the planning stage, are set in wax and tried in the mouth, attached
to the dental implants. You can see how the smile looks and test your speech
and bite.
Day 3 New Teeth: Your
permanent new fully fixed replacement teeth are inserted on day 3 in most
cases. Your instant set of teeth is inserted and attached to the dental
implants. These teeth are designed to immediately restore excellent function
and aesthetics by correcting any problems that existed in your previous smile.
Dental implants are an important investment in your health,
smile, confidence and comfort, providing a permanent solution for missing teeth.

Immediate Dental Implants
If you know you are about to lose
a tooth, or if you have suddenly lost a tooth, there may be a chance that you
can get your tooth replaced with an ‘immediate’ dental implant.
It may well be possible to put an
implant tooth in immediately. You should act quickly though: it only takes a
couple of days for the gum to grow down into the socket and this will make it
difficult to put an immediate implant in place.
There are two key conditions that
have to be met to make an immediate implant possible:
The bone around the failing tooth
must be intact;
The gum and surrounding area must
be infection free.
If both these conditions are met,
then it is possible to carefully extract the root and immediately put an
implant directly into the tooth socket.
If the dental implant is adequately
secure in the bone, the titanium post can be put in place and a temporary crown
on top. This treatment means that the patient can literally come to the clinic
with a failed tooth and leave a short while later with a new implant tooth in
place.
The temporary teeth look very
natural and stay securely in place until the implant has healed sufficiently to
put the permanent crown in place.
An immediate tooth implant can
save months of waiting for your new tooth. It will reduce the number of visits
you need to make to the surgery, and the money you have to spend on preparation
and surgery time.
Extensive experience with
immediate dental implants shown there is very little discomfort associated with
this procedure, with some patients reporting feeling no pain at all during the
implant surgery. They have also found the implant is fully functioning almost
immediately.
In addition, patients report that their family
and friends do not notice the difference, because their new replacement teeth
have a natural look. This advanced dental technique allows the implant to lock
in place, giving it a stronger, more permanent hold than any other implant
procedure.

Cost of Dental Implants in Preston
How much do dental implants cost in Lancashire? There is not a single direct answer to this
question as prices for Dental Implants can vary based on the location of the
dental implant clinic. They can also vary based on the reputation and
experience of the dental implant dentist involved in your procedure; there are also
many different variables that affect the cost of implants.
- The Implant Fixture
The type and the brand of implant
used will significantly have an impact on the cost. Some brands are much more expensive than
others and will require the dentist to charge a higher fee depending on the
grade of the titanium used or if there are any additional coatings on the
surface of the implant. Various other factors, such as the quality of the bone
at the implant site, will at times justify the need for more expensive
implants. Overall the national average
for dental implant prices ranges from £2200 - £3200. However, this is not your final price.
2. The Abutment Type
After the implant fixture has healed,
your implant dentist will decide which type of abutment will be screwed into
the implant. The choice is either a
pre-fabricated or a cosmetic customized abutment. Cosmetic abutments are much more
expensive and are used in situations where the implants were placed on an angle
or where pre-fabricated abutments will not achieve the desired aesthetic. More advanced
form of Customized abutments are ceramic. These abutments are more expensive
but are ideal choice of the aesthetic areas, i.e. front regions, especially if you
display quite a bit of gum when you smile. The type of abutment chosen by the
dentist for your individual case will affect the cost of this portion of the
implant restoration.
3. The Implant Crown
When your implant fixture has
healed and the abutment has been placed your implant dentist is ready to place the
final implant crown. There is a significant variation in cost depending upon
the type of materials used to make the crown and the dental laboratory that
fabricates the crown.
Your implant crown can either be
made from a base metal (precious metal, i.e. gold) covered with porcelain, or
from ceramic. Depending on the type of the dental laboratory, the cost of the
crown can vary, as a talented technician tends to charge more for their artistic,
detail-oriented crowns.
The final aesthetic result can be
much more realistic in the mouth, and many patients feel this is well worth the
additional cost, especially if the tooth being replaced is in the front of the
mouth.
4. The Need for Bone grafts
If there is inadequate amount of
bone present to place the implant and have it adequately Retaining and fusing
to the jawbone, In this case bone grafts are often needed to ensure the
quantity and quality of bone is sufficient to support an implant. There is
usually an additional fee incurred if bone grafts are needed.

Dental Implants Preston - The Freedom You Deserve
Dental implants are today’s utmost substitute to natural teeth. They can be your doorway to a transformed new self-confidence and peace of mind. An implant is, essentially, a sophisticated titanium screw which is placed into the jaw bone to replace the root of a lost natural tooth. The implant fuses with the jaw bone to form a secure foundation for tooth replacement. The end result ... replacement teeth that look, feel and function just like natural teeth.
The embarrassment, irritation and self-consciousness often experienced by people who have missing teeth, those who wear dentures or who have suffered through older methods of tooth replacement, are overcome with the confidence of permanently anchored dental implants.
Dental implants are now recognised as routine treatment for a full range of problems from replacing a single tooth, to full oral rehabilitation. Recent advances in medical and dental technology have led to expanded areas of clinical practice never before thought possible only a short time ago. With such advances adding to one of the most researched and successful treatment modalities in dentistry to date, dental implants are today considered the standard of care for many oral conditions, and the best alternative to natural teeth or dentures.
